    Parliament passes the Stamp Act. This document levies new taxes on court and customs documents, financial papers, playing cards, newspapers, etc.
  • First Quartering Act

    First Quartering Act
    Parliament passes the first Quartering Act, which gives local officials the authority to house British troops in inns, alehouses, stables, etc.
  • Stamp Act Repealed / Declaratory Act Passed

    Stamp Act Repealed / Declaratory Act Passed
    Under pressure from English merchants, Parliament repeals the Stamp Act. In turn, they pass the Declaratory Act which means the English goverment can determine what is good for the empire as a whole.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    A group of Bostonians harass British troops. The troops shoot five men. The colonists are outraged.
  • Tea Act

    Tea Act
    Britain will ship its tea surplus to the colonies, where it will be sold. The colonists realize that this will only hurt local merchants.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    A group of Patriots dress as Mohawk Indians and throw 342 chests of tea into Boston Harbor. They do this to show that they will not submit to Parliament or British monopolies for the sake of cheap tea.
  • Paul Revere's Ride

    Paul Revere's Ride
    Upon hearing that the British are about to invade, Paul Revere rides through the countryside to warn people.
  • Bunker Hill

    Bunker Hill
    This is the first major battle of the American Revolution.
