  • The Sugar Act

    The Sugar Act
    The British were shipping sugar to America and making them pay for it, while raising the price/tax on it. This act was passed to help pay off the debt left from the French-Indian War.
  • The Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act
    The British needed to pay off the debt so they passed The Stamp ACt. The Stamp Act added tax to many common things, mostly paper products such as documents, newspaper, and paper.
  • Quartering Act

    Quartering Act
    To protect colonial interest, the British posted more soldiers in the 13 colonies, however, they forced the citizens to house them, provide food and shelter, and all the necessities .
  • The Townshend Act

    The Townshend Act
    The Townshend Act stretched the power of the British soldiers in the 13 Colonies. The act also made it so the colonists could protest against the taxes. This act was passed to stop the smuggling and make sure the colonists could protest against new acts.
  • The Tea Act

    The Tea Act
    After The Tea Act was passed you needed a license to sell tea, and tea was taxed heavily, making the prices skyrocket up. They did this because they needed to pay off their debt, and tea was a popular drink in the colonies.

    The Boston Port Act prevented the colonists from sailing on or past Boston Harbor. These acts were passed to try to regain control of the 13 colonies.
