Ended segregation in public places and banned discrimination in employment based on race, color, religion. sex or national origin. The character most effect was Emmett Taylor and his family. -
Vietnam War Enlists
In August the official retaliation towards North Vietnam starts which allows for the start of the war in Vietnam. This event effects Brian because he had just previously enlisted to be a marine. -

By this time the regular bombing of North Vietnam had started and people started to protest the war especially college students.This event included Micheal, Sarah and Kenny. -
Black Panther Party
The Black Panther Party was originally created to protect African Americans from acts of police brutality but then called for the arming of African Americans and looked for justice in a radical way. This event specifically effect Emmett Taylor who was recruited for the Party at a Hippie festival. -
March of the Pentagon
Protesters marched from the Lincoln Memorial over the Memorial Bridge towards the Pentagon asking for an end to the war. There were thousands of troops and marshals at the entrance with riffles and tear gas. .Micheal, Sarah,and Kenny were at the March on the Pentagon -
President Johnson isn't running for re-election
President Johnson appeared on national television stating that he would be halting the bombing in Vietnam and he would not be running for re-election. This event was seen by Micheal, Katie, Brian, Sarah and Kenny
