Giovanna Garzoni was one of a kind and one of the most well known female artists of her time and in the place she was from. What was interesting about her artwork was that she didn't necessarily have one specific niche. She was able to create artwork that ranged from the religious to the mythological, to the mundane and to the beauty of nature and it's botanical gardens and so on. There wasn't a huge significant meaning behind this painting other than showing a cute, spoiled dog relaxing.
