    He was born on October 27, 1858. His parents are Theodore Roosevelt Sr. & Martha Bulloch Roosevelt.
  • Assassination of McKinley and Naming of presidency

    Assassination of McKinley and Naming of presidency
    President William McKinley was shot on September 6, 1901. He died a couple days later on September 14. The vice president at the time was Roosevelt and he was named President.

    The Coal Strike / Energy Crisis
    Miners wanted higher wages, shorter workdays, and the recognition of their union. They wanted to shut down the winter fuel supply to major cities. Roosevelt wanted to intervene but he was told not to. It resulted in a 9 hour work day and the wages increased by 10%.     It was the United States first national monument ever named. It stands 1,267 feet tall. It was declared a monument by Teddy Roosevelt,he authorized the Antiquities Act. Some native tribes still visit the monument every year to perform rituals.

    He signed the American Antiquities Act of 1906 that transferred the Yosemite Valley and the Mariposa Grove back under federal protection and control. Yosemite had its own agency to protect it, thanks to Roosevelt's efforts.
