The Nokia 1011 was the first mass produced cell phone in 1992. Nokia is a company that began in Finland. It was the lightest phone and could make calls and send text messages. 30 years ago this was a revolutionary phone. Now we see it as such outdated technology we wouldn't look twice at it. Our phones have become so much more than just a means of communication. -
DVD
The DVD was released for use in 1996. There isn't one person who can be accredited for its invention because many people were working towards this project in a sort of consortium. The DVD was the beginning of portable entertainment and we have come a long way since then, but it completely changed entertainment for consumers. -
Toyota Prius Released
In 1997 the first hybrid vehicle was released by Toyota. This hybrid vehicle uses an engine and battery to be fuel-efficient and better for the environment. This is huge in our society today, we move around so much and so often, having a fuel efficient is almost like having a cell phone in our hand.
