    Initial Discussion of Teacher Knowledge, Symbaloo Creation, and Technology Access Survey
    Round table discussion with all faculty will take place during the December professional development day. During this discussion teachers, with the help of technology facilitators, will create a Symbaloo of all the current tools that they are using or would like to learn how to use. It will be the responsibility of all teachers to use 4-5 of the technology tools and be able to present how they used the tools to the faculty in February.

    Google Training, Teacher Web Site Update, Text message begin to be used for parent contact
    Google has a range of tools for teaching and learning. As of the 2013-2014 school year, teachers and students have Gmail accounts and with those email accounts come many invaluable tools to use in the classroom and beyond. However, there has been one day, district wide, where teachers had 30 minute training sessions to learn all there is to know about what Google has to offer. We will also use group texts to enhance communication with students and parents.
  • Parent Technology Open House

    Parent Technology Open House
    PCS will hold a parent technology open house night. Parents and students will learn about ways in which they can stay up to date with school happenings, education resources and much more. During our professional development for the month,teachers will use what they have learned from the Google training sessions in January and tools that were included on the Symbaloo to create 10 minute presentations that they will share with the faculty. In March, students will create a digital gallery walk.

    Student work on Alleghany Community Television
    Students will create a technology gallery walk which will be broadcast on Alleghany Community Television. PCS will also launch it's own Youtube Channel this month where student work and messages can be viewed.

    Professional Development: Web 2.0 tools and Global Awareness
    The April Professional Development day will be used to discuss the importance of Web 2.0 tools. Web 2.0 is about revolutionary new ways of creating, collaborating, editing and sharing user-generated content online. It's also about ease of use. There's no need to download, and teachers and students can master many of these tools in minutes. Technology has never been easier or more accessible to all. Also, teachers will learn how they can communicate globally to bring the world into their class

    Making review fun!
    All teachers know that focus at the end of year is centered around mClass, Read to Achieve, End of Grade and End of Course testing. How do we review for these tests with boring our students to tears? Teachers will bring ideas to this month's PD that will be useful in review and assessing.
