As the economy changes and develops, so does the workplace. Just 100 years ago, the primary occupations were agricultural, and a fairly small percentage of labor lived in cities. In 2011, this relation has reversed. Workplaces have changed radically as the nature of the modern American economy has gone from agricultural to industrial and, especially since the 1970s, from industrial to postindustrial.
