Ray tracing is an advanced lighting simulation technique that can create ultra photo realistic images. While this technology has been around for a while, the release of the NVIDIA Quadro RTX 4000, Ray Tracing became practical and fast enough to be used by consumers for real-time rendering in video games. With ray tracing present in the current console generation I strongly believe we'll have real-time rendered graphics indistinguishable from real life in the next decade or two. -
