    This pioneer of language teaching methods, also known as the traditional method was first described by Valentin Meidinger (1756-1822) considered the creator of the method and whose work dealt with the teaching of French. On the other hand, Johann Christian Fick (1763-1821) wrote the first course of its kind for the teaching of English.
