Typical Student Behaviors

  • Ages 5-10

    Ages 5-10
    Typical behaviors of children from 5-10 is that the "know it all" stage will start to increase with each age. Rules start to be come very IMPORTANT. Children will tell on others that are not following the rules, they are wanting you to be able to see that they do know the rules and do follow them. Another typical behavior of these children is that they want space from their parents but they still want them to guide them, just not lecture them, the older they get.
  • Ages 11-13

    Ages 11-13
    Typical behaviors of the 11-13 year old children are that they start learning to rebel slowly. They want to be able to be responsible of making their own decisions and friends. Children in this age range start to feel embarrassed when they are seen with their parents. At these ages, peer pressure becomes a big deal. They start to care about what others think to a certain point. Their behavior can become erratic and inconsistent.
  • Ages 14-18

    Ages 14-18
    Typical behaviors of 14-18 year old children increase dramatically every year. Children become more concerned with their appearance each year, more than they have before. As the ages increase, children become more willing to take on more responsibilities. Children can also become very depressed or experience sadness. One concern that really affects and triggers depression is a falling out with a friend. This age range takes every relationship very seriously.
