    The Berlin Wall

    The Berlin Wall was the physical dividing wall between West and East Berlin. It also represented the gap between democracy and communism. The wall's main purpose was to keep East Germans from fleeing to the West. It was demolished on November 9th 1989 after a surprise announcement near the end of the Cold War.

This moment in time was considered the end of the space race and signified a major accomplishment in United States history.
  • Kent State Massacre

    The Kent State shootings (aka the Kent State Massacre) took place at Kent State University, Ohio on May 4th 1970. The incident involved the shooting of unarmed college protesters (who were voicing their discontent towards the role of America in the Vietnam War)by the Ohio National Guard. The guardsmen fired 67 rounds in 13 seconds, killing 4, wounding 9 and paralysing 1.
