    The Steelers were on and on-going winning streak, starting out the season 4-0. They had continued success in the regular season, eventually leading them to a 12-4 record at the end of the regular season. Through the playoffs they had success defeating the Miami Dolphins and the Houston Oilers.

    The Rams heading into post-season play, came off the regular season with a record of 9-7. The rams would go on in the Playoffs to take down the Dallas Cowboys and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, in the end giving them a spot in Super Bowl XIV.

    Super Bowl XIV
    Super Bowl XIV was held in the Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena, California in 1980. Fun fact, there was over 103,000 thousand spectators in total, that’s an NFL Record. It was a windy game with wind gust up to 30 mph. The Steelers going into Super Bowl XIV, were very heavily favored to win.
  • First Quarter

    First Quarter
    In the first quarter, the two teams were going back and forth. With the Rams selecting to get the ball first, the Steelers defense( Steel Curtain) were solid in holding them to a field goal. After kicking to the Steelers, the Rams would go on to have a good drive and lead to the first touchdown of the game. The first quarter would end 7-3 with the Rams leading.

    Second Quarter
    The tides would turn in the second quarter, with Franco Harris scoring the second touchdown to give the Steelers the 10-7 lead. The Steelers lead wouldn’t last long with the Rams making a 31-yard field goal to make the score 10-10. Near the end of the second quarter, the Rams kicker Frank Corral, would make his second field goal of the game giving Rams the lead 13-10.

    In the third quarter, the Steelers defense(Steel Curtain) would keep them in the game with holding the Rams only scoring two field goals. The Steelers, again would score the only touchdown of the quarter. But with that touchdown, the Steelers would still be down 19-17 going into the fourth quarter.
  • Fourth Quarter

    In the fourth quarter, the heavily favored and better team would takeover. The Steelers QB Terry Bradshaw, would pass to WR John Stallworth running it all the way to the endzone giving the Steelers the lead 24-19. Both teams would go on to exchange punts. The games last scoring play would be Steelers RB Franco Harris scoring a 1-yard run touchdown to make the score 31-19. The Rams would ultimately have one more drive but time ran out and the Steelers won 31-19.

    Post Super Bowl XIV
    This was the Pittsburgh Steelers second consecutive Super Bowl win. In the year before, the Pittsburgh Pirates also won the World Series. With both these wins, Pittsburgh was in glory. The Steelers wouldn’t go on to win another Super Bowl until 2008, defeating the Cardinals in Super Bowl XLIII.
