    The Stamp Act was a law passed by Parliament that placed a tax on printed materials in the colonies such as legal documents,newspapers,and even playing cards!The colonists felt it was unfair because they didn't have a say in goverment,shouting out the famous cry:No Taxation without representation!

    Sons of Liberty
    The Sons of Liberty were a group of people that led by Samuel Adams who led protest against the new tax.They burned stamps and threatened stamp agents,people who were hired to collect the stamp taxes.They're goal was to scare stamp agents, and evenually it finally worked.

    The Townshend Acts
    The Townshend Acts were laws passed by Parliment in 1767.The reason they passed the laws were because King George III insisted that Britain had the right to tax the colonists,no matter what Patrick Henry and Samuel Adams said.These laws placed a tax on imported goods.The Townshend Acts caused mad protest in the colonies.

    The Daughters of Liberty
    A lady named Mercy Otis Warren was sick of buying such expensive items so she encouraged people to quit buying the expensive items .She rounded up a crowd of people and they started making tea out of berries and herbs intead of buying the taxed tea.They alsoweaved cloth to use instead of using wool.While that was going on in the colonies,British business was going down so Britain called warships thinking that it would make people stop protesting but it only made it worse.

    The Boston Massacre
    The Boston Massacre was a bad fight.The reasons it started was because a man named Edward Garrick was shouting insults at Hugh White a British soldier.White got angry so he hit Edward with the back of his gun.People around him saw him hitting White and so they continued to insult him for what he did,Hugh called for help.When the help came people in the crowd started throwing things like snowballs, icicles, and even oyster shells!In the end the British shot they're guns,they killed 5.

    The Committees of Correspondence
    Samuel Adams formed a Committees of Correspondence in Boston in 1772.Members of these committees wrote to each other about local events happening.These letters were sent by express riders on fast horses.Samuel Adams used to feel bad that took so long for news to travel from one colony to another,and after he started the committee he could finally get to do that.

    The Boston Tea Party
    In 1773,Committees of Correspondence began writng about the Tea Act,a new law passed by Parliment.The Tea Act had 2 goals, the first goal was to help east India and the second goal was to get the colonies to pay taxes to Britain.Soon enough people got sick of paying taxes so the Sons of Liberty disguised themselves and rode out to British ships with axes and cut all the crates with tea in them and then dumped the tea in the sea.This later became known as The Boston Tea Party.

    The Intolerable Acts were laws that Britain put on Boston because of the Boston Tea Party.These laws stated that:The colony of Massachusetts was under control by a British general named Thomas Gage,and the port of Bostonwas closed so no trading,and British soldiers had to be housed and fed.

    The Continental Congress
    The First Continental Congress was in Philidelphia in September 1774.Representatives from all colonies except Georgia met there to disscus about how they would stop all trade with Britain until the Intolerable Acts were repealed.They also disscussed about how they should begn training millitias,or volunteer armies.
