    Magna Carta
    King John signed the Magna Carta in Medieval England. The rights given to the poeple were they were limiting the kings power by no taxation without representtio. Also allowed for the fair and non excessive punishment, and trial by jury.

  • Petition of Rights

    Petition of Rights
    Under these rights, a freeman should be forced to pay any tax, no freeman should be imprisoned, the soldiers/sailors shouldnt be allowed to be billeted on private people. Charles I signed the petition.

  • Stamp Act

    As a result of the Stamp Act, printed paper, licenses, newspapers,legal documents and even playing cards were taxed. The colonial leaders believed that they couldnt do anything about this new act until the Virginia House of Burgesses adopted Patrick Henrys Stamp Act resolves.
  • Boston Massacre

    There were 5 colnist were killed. Many people disagreed over the Stamp act which was being enforced and led to this tragedy.

  • Boston Tea Party

    THe patriots were the political group that formed the boston tea party. The British responded by making the intolerable acts of 1774 which closed the boston ports and destroyed MA goverment, granting a monopoly on the sale of tea to the british in the EAST India COmpany.
  • Intolerable Acts

    The British passed these acts because King George III ordered three shiploads of tea and demanded a new tea tax and had it dumped in Boston Colonists didn't want tax on tea so they dumped it into the harbor. They believed there should be a punishment for this so they enforced the intolerable acts. The provisions of these acts were, Boston Port Bill, Administration of Justice, Quartering Act, and the Quebec Act.

    Lexington and Concord started the American Revolutionary war. British Redcoats, Major John Pitcairn, Lieutenant Colonel Francis Smith and General Thomas Gage, Minute Men, and Paul Revere were all involved in this event. Paul Revere sounded the alarm for colonial militiamen to begin intercepting the Red Coat column.

    This took place in Philidelphia in the State House. This meeting established the militia as the Continental Army to represent the 13 states, they also elected George Washington as commander in chief of the Continental Army. The meeting involved George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, John Adams and Benjamin Franklin.
