Exposition
Stellaluna is a baby bat who lives in a warm forest with her mother, until an owl attacks her mom and she falls branch to branch. Stellaluna hangs on to a branch with her tiny feet and asks "Mother, where are you?". She doesn't know where her mom is and then falls into a birds nest. -
Rising Action
After Stellaluna falls into the birds nest, head first, she gets taught how to act, eat, sleep, and fly like one. She doesn't mind except for the part where she has to eat bugs. She then gets used to it. -
Climax
She teaches her bird friends how to sleep like a bat. After they try, their mother sees and Stellaluna promises never to do it again. They one day learn to fly and Stellaluna ends up flying for hours and then falls asleep. Her bird friends can't find her so they leave. -
Falling Action
When Stellaluna wakes up, she meets a bat wondering why she's upside down and bats gather around her. She shares her story of falling after being attacked, growing up with birds, and living like one. A bat comes through and asks "You were attacked by an owl and survived? You are my baby!". -
Resolution
Stellaluna loves living like a bat and says "I will not eat bugs as long as I live!". After that incident, she brings her bird friends and flies at night, like normal bats, and the birds almost crash untill Stellaluna catches them. They then know they'll be friends forever.
