  • Month 1

    -Baby is 1/4 inch long
    -heart, digestive system, backbone and soinal cordbegin to form
    -Placenta begins to develop
    -fertilized egg has increased in size by 10,000 times since conception
  • Month 2

    -1-1/8 in long
    -heart is functioning
    -facial features begin to form
    -baby is moving but the mother can't feel it yet
  • Month 3

    2-1/2 in long
    -baby develops recognizable form
    -limbs are fully formed
    -eyes almost fully developed
    -baby has developed most organs
    -baby's heartbeat can be heard
  • Month 4

    -7 in long
    -developing reflexes
    -sweat glands forming on palms and soles
    -fingers and soles are well defined
    -gender is indefitifiable
  • Month 5

    -8-10 in long
    -hair begins to grow on head
    -mother begins to feel fetal movement
    -eyebrows, eyelids and lashes appear
    -weighs 1 lb
  • Month 6

    -11-14 in long
    -weighs almost 2 lbs
    -eyes open for short periods of time
    -baby is able to hiccup
  • Month 7

    -14-16 in long
    taste buds have developed
    -fat layers forming
    -organs maturing
    -skin is wrinkled and red
  • Month 8

    • 16-18 in long -weighs 4-6 lbs -rapid growth overall -organs developed except for lungs -"kicks" are visible from the outside -skin is less wrinkled
  • Month 9

    -19-20 in long
    -weigh s about 7 lbs
    -lungs are mature
    -smooth, pink skin
    -baby is fully developed
