When tita was born
"Tita made her entrance into this world, prematurleyright there on on the kitchen table". pg.6
Tita was born early because she was so sentsitive to onions. While in the womb the onions bothered and she began crying so violently it caused an early birth. -
Pedro and Rosaura get married
"At least there would be some justification for not allowing her to marry and giving Rosaura her place beside the man she loved". pg. 27
Tita was not allowed to marry since she was her mothers last child she had to stay with her till she died. Mama Elena allows Rosaura to marry Pedro, Titas lover instead. -
Roses from Pedro
"How could Tita remember such a thing, shaken as she to get a bouqet of roses, and from Pedro besides". pg. 47
Pedro gave Tita a dozen roses to show his love for her. So Rosaura wouldn't get upset she used the flowers to make dinner. -
Roberto is born
"The baptisim of her nephew, first son of Pedro and Rosaura". pg. 65
When Roberto was born tita became very close to him and fed him for Rosaura. -
Tita goes to live with Doctor John
"but toward dark he brought Tita down, now dressed, and she got into his carriage and drove off with him". pg. 100-101
Tita angers Mama Elena, and she hits her in the face. Tita goes to live doctor John -
Tita begans to open up to John
"She had to find someone to kindle her desire". pg. 118
While spending time with Doctor John in his lab she begans to open up to him and starts to have feelings that she would like to be with another man besides Pedro. -
Tita goes back to the ranch
"During the funeral Tita really wept for her mother." pg.138
Tita goes back to the ranch to take care of her injured mother who dies a little while after. After Mama Elena dies Tita finds letters about a dark secret that Mama Elena kept well hidden. -
John proposes to Tita.... Tita and Pedro make love for the first time
"That evening John John was coming to ask for her hand". pg. 145
John proposes to Tita and she agrees. Tita begins to feel she is finally over Pedro
"Without answering, Pedro went to her, extinguished the lamp, pulled her to a brass bed that had once been her sister Grestrudis, throwing himself upon her, caused her to lose her virginity and learn true love. -
Tita learns she is pregnant
"I can tell from a woman's eyes the minute she becomes pregnant". pg. 117
Tita learns that she is going to have Pedros baby. Also her sister Grertrudis comes home and she is a general in the army. -
Tita tells Pedro that she is pregnant. She also breaks off her engagment to John.
"I think you should tell Pedro you'e expecting his child". pg. 191
Pedro over hears this when when Tita and Gretrudis is talking. This is when Tita gets the Courage to tell him of her pregnancy -
John Returns to the Ranch with his Aunt Mary. This is when Tita breaks off the engagment with John.
"Today she was expecting quests for dinner, John and his Aunt Mary, who come from Pennsylvania just to attend John and Tita's wedding". pg. 209
Aunt Mary came all the way from Pennsylvania just to attend their wedding.
"John, I think we'd better call it off".
Tita calls off the engagment because she is still in love with Pedro. -
Rosaura dies
"'Rosaura would have enjoyed this wedding so much.' poor thing has dead for a year".
This a huge turning point in the story. Finally Tita and Pedro cano be together and Esperanze can get married. -
Eperanze gets married to alex.
"This would be a quiest wedding". pg.230
With Rosaura dead Esperanza would be free to marry her lover Alex. -
Tita and Pedro die.
"It took her but a mement to realize that Pedro was dead". pg. 244
Pedros climax was so high it killed him.
"She bagan to eat candles out of the box one boy one". pg. 245
Tita loved Pedro so much she killed herself to be with him in death.
