  • Civil Rights Act

    Title IV prohibited duscrimination against others through the basis of race, color, or national origin.
  • Bilingual Education Act

    Helped establish federal policy for that of bilingual education for economically disadvantaged students through funds for programs.
  • United States of America v. State of Texas

    In this court case, civil Action 5281, eliminated discrimination of race and color in Texas public schools.
  • Education for All Handicapped Children Act

    This law was the pioneer for Special Education because of how it stated that schools must provide their students with equal opportunities to learn.
  • Casteneda v. Pickard

    This very influential court case, allowed for the adoption of a set of basic standards to determine school compliance with EEOA. The creation of the Castaneda Test: Theory, Practice, and Result.
  • Plyler v. Doe

    This court case allowed for the policy that the state can not deny free public education to students who may be undocumented.
  • IDEA ACT

    After the creation of the law in 1975, IDEA or the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act was passed allowing for students to receive free public education with an environment that was least restrictive.
  • No Child Left Behind

    This Act provided funds to states to help improve the education of limited English students by assisting them in achieving state academic standards.
