    Fray Marcos reported that he saw a city filled with gold: looked larger than Mexico City.

    De Soto was the leader.
    The purpose of the expexdition was to search for gold.
    De Soto and Moscoso discovered the Mississippi River. De Soto died at the Mississippi River.
    Moscoso gave the same basic report as Cornodo saying there was no gold and there was no reason to go to Texas so the spanish didnt have any major expeditions for 150 years.

    it was important because because spanish didnt return with any major expeditions for 150 years after hearing Cornodo's and Moscoso's reports. Cornodo discovered the Grand Canyon and Palo Duro Canyon.
