    Nicolaus Copernicus

    Nicolaus Copernicus
    • Nicolaus Copernicus was born on the 19th of February 1473
    • In the early 1500's Nicolaus Copernicus Suggested the Heliocentric model (planets revolved​ around the earth instead of revolving around the sun.)
    • In 1532 he laid out his model of the Solar system.
    • In 1543, 2 months before he died he dedicated his book to Pope Paul III. The church officially banned the bok in 1616.
    • Copernicus died May 24, 1543, of a stroke when he was 70.
  • Johannes Kepler

    Johannes Kepler
    • Johannes Kepler was born on December 27, 1571.
    • He was a German astronomer who discovered three major laws of planetary motion.
    • He discovered 1. that the planets move in elliptical orbits with the sun at one focus. 2. Area Law 3. Harmonic law. Kepler did not call these discoveries laws but rather celestial harmonies that reflected God's design for the universe.
    • Johannes Kepler than died after​ falling ill at the age of 58 on November 15, 1630.

    • Galileo Galilei was born on February 15, 1564 in Pisa (Italy).
    • Galileo did not invent the telescope but he improved it. He also invented many things for surveying (Celatone, Galileo's escapment, Galileo's proportional compass and Galileo's micrometer)
    • He discovred Jupiters major moons (lo, Europa, Ganymede and Callisto)
    • Galileo Galilei died on the 8th of January, 1642 after suffering fever and hear palpitations.

    • Edmund Halley discovered the Halley's Comet.
    • Edmond Halley died on the 14th of January 1742.

    • William Herschel discovered Uranus, Enceladus, NGC 6251, Oberon, Mimas, ​NGC 4473 and Titania.
    • William Herschel died on the 25th of August 1822.
