Snapchat is Released
Snapchat was a groundbreaking launch in 2011. Snapchat brought a new wave to social media as the "Snap" feature was never seen before. Friends could send each other a photo, it can be opened one time, and then it was never to be seen again. This was intriguing for young kids. Now, Snapchat has calling, video call, chat, and snap features. -

In 2011 Google launched Google+. Google+ was a social networking platform that strived to be a societal stage for people to connect. Google+ was a useful resource and helped Google products improve such as Gmail. -

In 2011, the establishment of streaming platform Twitch came along. Twitch is a streaming platform that is most used for gaming. While watching streams, viewers have the ability to donate to the streamer, basically giving them money for streaming. Twitch has seen many celebrities on different streams, and many people's lives were changed due to Twitch. -

TikTok Launched
With the abandonment of Musical.ly, it was then turned into TikTok. TikTok is similar to Musical.ly, however, now everything is on TikTok. From videos of people dancing, people doing a day in the life, professional athletes and more are all on TikTok. -
BeReal is Launched
In 2020, the launch of BeReal took over the teenage world. It was an app where the app would send out a notification to submit your BeReal, and you had two minutes to do so. The thing that made people gravitate to it is that both the front and back camera would take photos at the same time. -
Musk Purchases Twitter (X)
In 2022, Elon Musk bought out twitter for a staggering $44 billion. After he had bought it, he changed the name of Twitter, to what we now know it as, X.
