I Want It!
When Danny and his mom was at the grocery store, Danny saw a toy he had seen on T.V. at the store. He wanted to have it but his mom wouldn't buy it for him. He cried and kept telling her that he wanted it but his mom just carried him to the car and lectured him. He then saw that his mom was angry at him and realized that he shouldn't do that again. In Erikson's psychosocial theory, initiative vs. guilt, Danny feels guilty for making a scene at the store and making his mother angry. -
Rebel or Future
Danny came home from school wearing a punk rock outfit and red hair. His mom was furious and began to yell at him. He says that it is his life and he should be able to do whatever he wants with it. He then locks himself in his room and while he's lying down on his bed, he's thinking about the person he was that day and whether or not that is who he is. This links to Erikson's psychosocial stage, identity vs. confusion, because Danny tried on a new look to see if that was who he wants to be. -
Is it Love?
Danny has been dating his girlfriend Anna for about 3 years now and he is deciding to propose to her. He calls her and told her to meet him at the park. After the call he becomes an emotional rollercoaster. This event relates to Erikson's psychosocial stage, intimacy vs. isolation, because he is not only deciding whether or not to share his life with someone else, but also if this person is the right one. -
The Journey
Danny and Anna have been married for 40 years and Danny is sitting in his rocking chair, thinking about his entire marriage. He is happy that he married Anna but they decided to not have any kids. He's now wondering if his entire life would have been different if he would have had children. This relates to Erikson's psychosocial stage, ego integrity vs. despair, because Danny has lived a very fulfilled life with his wife but live with the only regret of not having children.
