A group of proslavery men radied the town of Lawrance, and anti slavery town, The head of the town desided to strike back and ended up killing over 200 proslavery men. This was later in the newspapers called "bleeding kansas" -

John Brown and his 4 sons go to the town of Pottawatomie Creek and killed 5 men out of their beds and killed them in retaliation for the attack in lawrance kansas. -
