Economic slump in North America, Europe, and other industrialized areas of the world. It was the longest and most severe depression ever experienced by the industrialized world. This is very important because the US had previously been in a very good economic state and now is in lots of trouble with people not being able to buy food and support their families. Many lost their jobs and couldn't afford the basic necessities of life.

President Paul von Hindenburg named Adolf Hitler leader of Germany. This leads to the Nazi Party becoming more and more powerful and in turn them becoming the party that takes over. This will give Hitler even more power and popularity.
