Christopher Columbus made four trips across the Atlantic Ocean. He went from Spain: in 1492, 1493, 1498 and 1502. He was determined to find a direct water route west from Europe to Asia, but he never did. Instead, he stumbled upon the Americas. This has effected our world so much because over 7 billion people live in America and we wouldn't be here. -
The begining of 1493, Columbus brought nearly 1,200 settlers and a variety of European animals and plants. Europeans found new foods and transported them back to the Old World. This is an important event because it helped Europeans get food, such as potatoes, and it helped Native Americans hunt better because horses were introduced to the New World. This effects our world today because it taught us how to communities interacted with completely new species, tools, and ideas. -
Religious wars were cause by the Protestant Reformation in western and northern Europe. Wars were fought between Catholics and Protestants. -
England’s “national poet” and the most famous playwright of all time, Created plays like “Romeo and Juliet.” This made a huge impact on our world because people know exactly who he is and a lot of people have preformed "Romeo and Juliet." He created compound words, adverbs, and adjectives from verbs. Shakespeare added suffixes and prefixes to many words. He expanded the idea of characterization, plot development, and genre. He was the first to connect romance and tragedy in a lasting way. -
The Triangular Trade went across the Atlantic. It was a series of trade routes that linked Europe, Africa, and the Americas. First, merchant ships brought European goods to Africa. Next, the goods were exchanged for slaves and slaves were sailed to the Americas. In America, the slaves were traded for raw materials which were shipped to Europe. This is important because it fueled the economy, it countries receive goods. Certain European became wealthy and would dominate the globe for centuries. -
England began concentrating on establishing colonies along the Eastern seaboard. In 1620 the Pilgrims, or English Protestants who rejected the Church of England, landed in Plymouth, Massachusetts. This one of the most important event because the 13 colonies and the Pilgrims became America. Everything that has happened would be different if America had never been formed. -
Isaac Newton, an english phsycist and mathematician was born. He is considered a key figure in the scientific revolution. Isaac loved school his favourite subject was Chemistry. Due to family circumstances, his mother made him leave school at the age of 12. So he could help the family farm. He hated working on the farm and longed to return to school. Luckily, his uncle stepped in and helped his mother which allowed him to go back to school. -
The British fleet under Nelson destroys the French navy. At this point Napoleon will focus on land battles. He wins major victories in the Battles of Ulm and Austerlitz. The battles are part of what is known as the Napoleonic Wars. The resulting Treaties of Tilsit and the Treaty of Schönbrunn leave most of Europe.
