    The first wave of immigrants came because they lost a battle with the English New Model Army at Dunbar (they were in a civil war with the English). The Scots lost and some of them slowly started to move to the USA.

    Allan Pinkerton's Birth

    Pinkerton was the son of a police Sergeant. His dad died when he was still a kid leaving his family in poverty. Allan found work as a cooper and soon became involved in chartism.
