    Progress towards NGSS implementation

    As the state moves towards NGSS implementation and the new CAST test, our district is providing professional development for both NGSS deeper understanding and discussion on ways to implement. We have been provided collaborative time with both middle schools to come to a common consensus and understanding. The ultimate goal is to make the recommendation of curriculum for integration or domain specific.
  • All Science Professional Development and Planning

    A meeting at Sowers with both school's science teams to discuss progress and expectations for NGSS. Shared that the expectation is for the teams to discuss the benefits/costs to integrated vs. discipline specific. Decision is not made yet. We want teachers to be comfortable with the change and understand at a meaningful level.
  • Opterra meeting and PD

    Opterra came to Dwyer to conduct a PD on their services and STEM website.
  • Collaborative District Science meeting

    Meeting to discuss where NGSS should take us, what it looks like and district steps to the decision of integrated vs. discipline specific.

    This was a collaborative meeting with both schools and OCDE to show ways to implement NGSS practices within the classroom. The benefits and challenges to both integrated and discipline specific were shared.
