  • Sopwith Camel

    Sopwith Camel
In 1912 Thomas Sopwith, along with his crew, made the Sopwith Camel, which is arguably one of best and most popular fighter planes that was used in World War 1.

The Sopwith Camel is incredibly light. When the plane was empty it weighed around 930 pounds, which is fairly good. Although the Sopwith Camel is light, it would have been very hard to control as it would get carried along with the wind.
The Sopwith Camel was extremely fast in the air. It could climb to 10, 000 ft in less than 10 mins
  • Sopwith Dolphin

    Sopwith Dolphin
The Sopwith Dolphin was the world's first four gun fighter to be used in WW1. This made the Sopwith Dolphin become incredibly good and the plane had a lot of ammunition as a result of this. The top speed of the Sopwith Dolphin is 131 m.p.h which is very fast.
  • Sopwith Cuckoo

    Sopwith Cuckoo
The Sopwith Cuckoo was a WW1 torpedo bombing biplane that was used by the Royal Air Force. During WW1, this plane was being built for carrier operations , but once this plane had been built, WW1 had ended. As this plane was a torpedo bomber, it could fire lots of torpedos at the enemy's plane.
  • Sopwith Rainbow

    Sopwith Rainbow
The Sopwith Rainbow was a biplane that was initially intended to be a racing plane but was eventually used in World War 1. Thomas Sopwith, along with the other employees at the Kingston Sopwith Aviation Company made this plane. A strength of this plane is that it travelled at 170 m.p.h which is very fast and could outspeed many planes such as the Fokker DR1.
  • Sopwith Grasshopper

    Sopwith Grasshopper
The Sopwith Grasshopper was made by the Kingston Aviation Company. It was supposed to be a better version of the Sopwith Camel but unlike the Sopwith Camel only one was made. In addition to this the Sopwith Grasshopper's top speed was 90mph which is fairly slow when compared to the Sopwith Camel, which had a top speed of 115mph. Despite this slow speed, the Sopwith Grasshopper was fairly big and strong. This meant that it could endure more bullets.
  • Hawker Harrier

    Hawker Harrier
The Hawker Harrier which was one of the most successful planes to be used during World War 1. Hawker Siddeley was the person who made this plane. The design of the Hawker Harrier is based on the Hawker P.1127. There are many strengths for the Hawker Harrier. Firstly, the Hawker Harrier was a very good and effective plane as it could travel over 1200 miles. Also, it could travel at 735 m.p.h which is extremely fast.
