In 1905, at the time the Russian monarch and people were experiencing growing tensions after four of the workers from the iron factory were discharged. Workers throughout the city went on strike. A petition was signed for better working areas which got many signatures. then the people of St Petersburg marched to the place to deliver the petition.

This was a 4 year conflict between the Boshelvik Red Army which wanted a communist state and the White Army, a group of anti-Bolshevik forces made up of monarchs and priests and liberals.

The Treaty of Brest-Litovsk was a treaty between Soviet Russia and the Central Powers (Germany, Austria-Hungary, the Ottoman Empire, and Bulgaria) which resulted in Russia leaving the war (WWI). Russia ended up losing some land and countries.

Stalin was appointed General Secretary of the Communist party. He gained even greater control over the party after Lenin's death in 1924.
