  • French & Indian War

    French & Indian War
    This was a 7 year war between the French, the Indians, the Colonies of America, and the British for independence. The war was caused by Land Competition, Control of North American trade routes, Alliance with Native Tribes, European Wars, and Traditional Enemies. This war would eventually end on February 10, 1763 by the Treaty of Paris. By the end of the war the British, Spain, and the English owned a chunk of land called land claims in North America.
  • Albany Plan of Union

    Albany Plan of Union
    The Albany Plan of Union is a plan suggested by Benjamin Franklin which would create a unified government between the colonies. Under this new rule the colonial government could levy taxes, upgrade the military, open up treaties with Mexico, Settle new land, and construct forts in OHR. The colonies would eventually reject this plan due to a fear of central power. That fear would result in a bill of State vs. National Power.
  • The Treaty of Paris

    The Treaty of Paris
    The Treaty of Paris announces the official end of the French & Indian War. It stated that France gave up all of their territories in America, effectively eliminating any chance of threat to the British colonies there. Britain claimed French land east of the Mississippi River. Spain claimed French land west of the Mississippi River.
  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    The Sugar Act was a modified version of the molasses act which was about to expire. It was an indirect tax on sugar used to decrease smuggling. It issued the Writs of Assistance which were a series of documents basically stating that the government has the right to search property without a warrant.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    The Stamp Act was an act put out by the British Parliament in 1765 which increased the tax on any printed goods such as newspapers and even dices and cards. The goal of this act was to decrease smuggling, apply a direct tax added to the cost of paper. The act was repealed in 1765 due to an overwhelming rejection with the colonists. They resorted to extreme illegal actions just to repeal this act.
  • Boston Masacre

    Boston Masacre
    The Boston Massacre was the killing of five colonists by British citizens. It was the result of tensions in the American colonies that had been growing since Royal troops first appeared in Massachusetts in October 1768 to enforce the heavy tax burden imposed by the Townshend Acts.
  • Declaration of Independence

    Declaration of Independence
    The Declaration of Independence was passed on July 4th, 1776 and was written by Thomas Jefferson. In the Declaration, it expresses the American mind and states reasons for independence. John Dickinson was the only one who refused to sign the Declaration of Independence.
