Road to the Revolution Timeline

  • Age of Enlightenment

    One of the leaders of The Enlightenment, Adam Smith Instead of learning and thinking by their religions and faiths, philosophers at this time started to think more and more scientifically as time went on.
  • French and Indian War

    Picture of who held what territories The name is actually very deceiving. This war was not held between the French and the Indians, it was held between French and the British. The French and Indians teamed up together to fight the British.
  • Proclamation Line of 1763

    The Proclamation Line This is where a line was set along the Appalachian Mountains that said no one is allowed to explore beyond this. They wanted to settle relations between Britain and the Native Americans.
  • Stamp Act

    Newspaper Ad for the Stamp Act The Stamp Act was a direct tax made by British Parliament and the colonies of British America had to use stamped paper that was produced in London.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre A few troops were just off-duty when a patriot mob came up to them and started attacking them. Five men of the patriot mob were shot and killed.
  • Tea Act

    Boston Tea Party This act by British Parliament happened because they wanted to get rid of some of the tea in warehouses. The company had the right to directly ship tea to North America and the right for duty-free export from Britain.

    Boston Tea Party A few New English colonists dressed up as Indians and boarded a ship full of tea. To show the government what they thought about the newly rised tax on tea, the threw barrels of tea off the ship into the Boston Harbor. This led to the Intolerable Acts.
  • Intolerable Acts

    Assault on a Native American Woman These are laws that were passed by British Parliament which caused chaos and revolt in the thirteen colonies. After this, the thirteen colonies became the United States.
  • First Continental Congress

    Carpenters' Hall (This is where the First Continental Congress was held) Because of the Boston Tea Party, there was a convention of delegates about it. The Intolerable Acts were passed at this meeting punishing them for the Tea Party.
  • Second Continental Congress

    Battles These battles at Lexington and Concord were the spark of the American Revolutonary War. The Revolutionary war was between the Kingdom of Great Britain and the thirteen colonies.
  • Declaration of Independence

    Declaration of Independence Written by Thomas Jefferson in June of 1776. It was finished and published by the Rest of the US Congress on July 4th which is now independence day.
