    Wilfrid Laurier become Prime Minister
    Wikipedia PageWilfrid Laurier, the 7th Prime Minister of Canada and the first French Speaking Prime Minister was elected on June 11 1896 and would run in office for 15 years.
    His reign is often called "The Golden Age of Laurier" because he, with help from his Minister of the interior Clifford Siftion, were able to get many immigrants to Canada by offering them land, work, and money.
    This really helped Canada because we had so much farmable land to the west and we weren't using it at all.

    Wikipedia PageFranz Ferdinald, the heir to the throne of Astro-Hungary war touring a city called Sarajevo with his wife, and he was later assassinated by Gavrilo Princip during his motorcade. Most people agree that this was the main cause of WW1 because the group who killed the Archduke was a Serbian group, and Astro-Hungary sent them an ultimum, which Serbia didn't agree to, so Astro-Hungary started a war with them in which several other countries taking sides in thewar, which is later called World War 1!

  • Battle of Ypres

    Wikipedia PageBattle Of Ypres was one of the major battles for Canadian troopsIn this battle there was new technology being introduced such as gas attacks. These gas attacks were first used on the western Front against the French and Algerians. The British and Canadian troops came together to advance against the enemy forces. The counter attack brought a halt to the Germans, but the Canadians sufferd 6,000 casualties.

    Wikipedia PageThe Battle of Vimy Ridge lasted from 9-14 April 1917 during WWI. This Ridge was controlled by the Germans. Many allied forces such as France and Great Britian tried to push the Germans out of the Ridge, but were unsuccessful. In Spring 1917 the Canadian forces were given the task to take over the ridge. Over 10,000 Canadians launched there attack on a 6.4km front and won their battle.
    After the battle the Canadian Forces were reconized as an elite force. Canadians got pride for their victory.

The treaty has harsh terms for Germany like limiting their armed forces, land, and etc

    Wikipedia PageDuring the war, women were given the right to vote so the government will have more support with war things because the women want their husbands to return as soon as possible. They were also given jobs that men usually did like steelworking and construction etc., because the men were all away at war and companies can pay women cheaper wages. While many people didn't agree with the changing role of women, it led to a bunch of rights for not only women, but a lot of different races/minorities!

They thought that the working man spent all of his earned money on alcohol and beats his wife and kids. While crime and abuse rapidly decreased, many people were very unhappy with this law. Criminals made millions of moneys ilegally making and selling their own alcohol to average people.

    Wikipedia Page Due to the harsh terms of the treaty of versailles, Germany was the worse hit countries during the depression. Just one of their marks were worth about 4 trillion U.S dollars. People were desperate, and Adolf Hitler and his National Socialist (Nazi) party promised to fix these problems, and were elected by the German people. He was a great leader at first, but obviously he goes on to start world war 2 and do many other terrible things like the holocaust.

Hitler has invaded other countries that nobody else agreed with before, but did nothing about it, thinking that Germany is justified because of what they did to them with the treaty and all, but this time the countries were sick, so France, Britian and all of their allies declared war on Germany, ultimately starting world war 2!

    Wikipedia Page Germany attempted to attack and try to take over Great Britian using their elite air force, the Luftwaffe. Germany did not win this battle in the air, but failed to do so. The reason that the Germans lost this battle was because Britian's air force was far more advanced than the Germans. Britian's planes had advanced radars, and also more machine guns on their planes. During this battle alot of air bomb raidings would happen over the towns and would target civilians.

    Wikipedia Page An American Military base was stationed at Pearl Harbor. They stationed naval ships and war planes. The base was attacked by Japanese Kamakaze planes. Admiral Yamamoto guided the Japanese planes to bomb the U.S's Naval ships. The Japanese used advanced planes and torpedoes, and all this happend before Japan declared war on the United States. The United states never expected an attack from anybody, let alone Japan.

    Wikipedia Page This is the day that the Allies landed on the beaches of France, Normandy to attack and hold the tactical location. Five seperate beaches were involved. USA, Britain and Canada were to each attack on different ones. Operation Overlord was the largest seaborne invasion ever. The Canadians took Juno Beach. 14000 Canadians entered, and 350 Canadians died. This is important to Canada because out of all the beachs, they were able to complete their mission on the first day. It distracted Germany..?!..

    Wikipedia Page After the end of WW2 in Europe, United States and Japan were still fighting, and US won the war by developing the first ever Nuclear Bombs and dropping them on two cities, causing Japan to surrender. After everybody found out about these bombs, they were all afraid of the US, especially the USSR, which has taken over a bunch of land at the end of WW2. The soviet union started to develop their own Nuclear Bombs. Their first bomb, "First Lightning" was tested, and it surprised everybody!

    Wikipedia Page During the Cold War, both the United States and the Soviet Union had enough nuclear bombs and such to obliberate eachother. So, if one side were to launch missiles to the enemy, the enemy would do the same, resulting in a lot of these bombs going off, and destroying the Earth. So MAD is in theory the whole idea of not attacking either side in fear of nuclear war destroying everything on Earth. So the Cold War wasn't really much of a war since there were no battles or fighting at all.

He introduced it to the house of commons, and they debated it for about six months.     in Canada, but not seperatism and definately not the FLQ! He also introduced the War Measures Act in peace time to catch FLQ terrorists. Many people were mad and feared that Canada would become a police state!

    October Crisis
    The October Crisis was mainly two things done by the Quebec seperatism terrorist group, the "FLQ". They have kidnapped two politicians, killed one, and held one for ransom. They promised to let James Cross, the politician they left alive, free if they would get a free plane ride to Cuba for all of them and their families. They got the plane ride and James Cross was set free, but by December 28, mostly all of the FLQ group was arrested for murder, kidnapping, and terrorism.

    Wikipedia Page An African country called Rwanda was a colony of Belgium, with Belgium leaders and everything. Belgium decided to give them independance, so they were by themselves. In Rwanda there are two groups, the Tutsi and the Hulu and they really hated eachother because Hulu people thought Tutsi killed their leader, so all the Hulu people went to kill all about 1Million Tutsi people. Canada went there in a UN mission attempting to make peace, but had to leave because it was too dangerous there.
