I think the colonist tried to steal the sugar from the British to get back at them. So the British put a tax on it to stop them -

Britain put taxes on paint, tea, lead and etc. And the colonist I guess didn't like that. -
Boston Massacre
The colonist started to throw snowballs at the redcoats. And they didn't like that so they started to shoot people. And it got worst from there -
Stamp Act
Great Britain they stopped the colonist couldn't post can't anything. Without a British stamp. -
Tea Act
The British sold overpriced taxes for tea. So the colonist started smuggling tea. -
Boston Tea Party
The colonist smuggled tea on a boat and dumped in the water. -
Intolerable Act
The British were really mad at the colonist so they passed an unfair act. -
Declaration of Independence
The colonist declared independence from Britain and never be with Britain ever again
