Road to the Revolution

  • French and Indian War

    The French and Indians teamed up against the British. The two sides fought over colonies but the French's allies helped them win many. The War was ended because of the Treaty of Paris.
  • Proclamation of 1763

    At the end of the French and Indian war the British made a Proclamation to please the Indians. In the Proclamation the British made a line between Indian and British land they said that they wont come on the Indians part of the land.
  • Sugar Act

    There was a lot of stealing of sugar, so the British passed the Molasses Act and then the Sugar Act to raise prices of sugar. Mostly to pay for military expences.
  • The Stamp Act of 1766

    The British Forced the colonies to buy a stamp when they obtain a document. The colonists bring it back to court with madness, Calling for a boycott of British goods.
  • Townshend Acts of 1767

    The British sent taxed goods to the US, The colonists saw this as unlawful, The British sent military to enforce the laws.
  • The Boston Massacre

    The Boston Massacre started as a fight between a few Colonists and 1 British officer, but soon grew into a blood bath. The conflict energized an Anti- British organization which paved the way for the Revolution.
  • The Tea Act

    The Main purpose of the Tea Act was to bail out the foundering an East Indian company. Even though the main purpose was not to gain avenue from the colonies it was still imposed on them.
  • The Boston Tea Party

    The Boston Tea Party was a political protest, mainly focused on "taxation without representation". They dumped 342 boxes of tea into the Harbor.
  • Intolerable Acts

    The Intolerable Acts was a series of Acts meant to Punish the people from the Boston Tea Party, One closing the Harbor until they got the money for the tea.
  • 1st Continental Congress

    Each of the Colonies (except for Georgia) Sent a canadite hoping to break away from The British Congress.
