    The Enlightenment was a period of reason, and knowledge through science. It allowed for a spread of new ideas and beliefs.
  • French and Indian War

    French and Indian War
    The final colonial war was the French and Indian War. The French and Indian War was the beginning of problems between the colonies and Gr. Britain.The war was mainly fought by English and the French, they battled for colonial domination in North America, the Caribbean, and in India.
  • Proclamation line of 1763

    Proclamation line of 1763
    The Proclamation Line of 1763 was issued by the British government to stop conflicts that had started between the Native Americans and colonists due to the French and Indian War. They did so by forbiding colonists from settling east or west of the Appalachian Mountains.

    The Stamp Act was enforced by the Brittish Parliament to the American colonies. This act made American colonists pay a tax for every peace of printed paper they used. The money from the tax was used to protect the American frontier near the Appalachian Mountains.

    The tea act was a tax put on tea to reduce the surplus of tea through unwealthy familys. As a reasult the Boston Tea party accord.

    The Boston Tea Party was a protest by the Sons of Liberty to the British government as a result of the Tea Act.The Protest occured due to royal governor Thomas Hutchinson refusing to send three ship loads of tea back to Britain, so the Sons of Liberty dumped all of the tea into the Boston Harbor dressed as indians.

    A seriese of laws created by the Brittish prime minister, in responce to the Boston Tea party.

    First Continental Congress
    The first continental congress brought together representatives from the American colonies, to discuss how to get their rights from the British government. The congress disgussed three main objectaves. To think up a series of colonial rights, and to identify how the British violated those rights. Also to provide a plan that would convince Britain to restore and maintain those rights.
  • Lexington and Concord

    Lexington and Concord
    Lexington and Concord is where the first shots between American and British troops were fired. The British marched from Boston to Concord due to the American's stock pile of weapons there. On the way to Concord British troops came upon American troops in Lexington, no one is sure who fired the first shot but is is known as the shot heard around the world. The Americans were forced to withdraw but had slowed down the British for enough time that they ranforced the troops at the weapons depot.

    The Second Continental Congress was a meeting of the representitives of the First Continental Congress, and helped America to adopt the Declaration of Independants.

    Declaration of Independence
    The Declaration of Independence was drafted by Thomas Jefferson and is Americas most glorified simbol of liberty and Independents. The declaration was created in order to make America an independant nation, and in writting this declaration America showed the king that they were an independant nation.
