    Petition of Right
    This was a statement of civil liberties made by the english parliament for Charles I. This was a document to give certain liberties that the king is not allowed to break. This protected the people so that taxes could not be changed without the Parliament; no one was allowed to be imprisoned without cause given; no soldiers were forced to be quarantined after citizenry; and that martial law would not be allowed to be used during the times of peace.
  • English Bill of Rights

    English Bill of Rights
    The English Bill of Rights was a right passed by William the III and Mary II who overthrew King James II. This bill was made so that the king and queen would not have to much power. This helped with giving democratic election and freedom of speech
  • 1st Continental Congress

    1st Continental Congress
    The first Continental Congress was a meeting of 12 delegates of the from 12 out of the 13 British Colonies. They threatened to boycott the Imports from Britain. By 1775 the imports from Britain dropped by 97 percent. They threatened to to cease exports to Britain after September 10, 1775. All of the Houses of Assembly approved to pass this to congress.

    2nd Continental Congress
    The Second Continental Congress meeting was between 12 delegates out of the 13 British colonies. The reason for the second Continental Congress was because the British did not follow the first continental congress. America needed to form a Continental Army to fight the revolutionary war.
  • Declaration of Independence

    Declaration of Independence
    This was written by Thomas Jefferson and was meant to separate the United States from the British colonies. This was to give rights that the government can't take away from the people and citizens. The declaration of independence purpose is to give the American citizens a better and more just government.
  • Shay's Rebellion

    Shay's Rebellion
    This was a bunch of violent attacks to the government properties and courthouses in Massachusetts. These series of attacks started in 1786 however it lead to a military confrontation in 1787. The Shay's rebellion was named after Daniel Shay who was a farmer and soldier who fought at Bunker Hill and was one of the leaders.
  • The Federalist Papers

    This was a compilation of 85 essays and articles made by John Jay, James Madison, and Alexander Hamilton. The use of making this was to promote the ratification of the United States Constitution.
