Road to Revolution Timeline Events

  • Treaty of Paris (1)

    This was for the French and Indian war that was going on for seven years. It was signed by France (Great Britin) and Spain (Hanover).
  • Proclamation Act (2)

    This act was issued by King George lll after the French and Indian war. He wanted Great Britians acquisition of the French Territory in America.
  • The Sugar Act (3)

    This was a new version of the Sugar and Molasses Act that was soon to expire. When it was about to expire they told merchants to sell it for more so they would get more money.
  • Stamp Act Congress (5)

    It was the first meeting held between the American Colonies and it was from October 7 to the 25. This meeting had many different representitives from the Britisth side and North America.
  • Stamp Act (4)

    The stamp Act was passed by the British Parliament. Akso all the new taxes were imposed on all American colonist.
  • The Quartering Act (6)

    This was when British Parliment meet and finally passed the quartering act for Americans. The act said that troops may only be quartered in barracks.
  • Declaration of rights and Grievances (7)

    This was a document that was written by the Stamp Act congress, It was applied to the British about there taxes.
  • Stamp Act Repealed (8)

    This was a taxation for the British so that all there things they bought or sold would cost more with the higher tax. This was one of the best things they had for the colonies, but then everything went down when it wa repealed.
  • Declaratory Act (9)

    When this act had happened they repealed the Stamp act. So the Stamp act was replaced the Declaratory Act was passed.
  • Townshend Act (10)

    It was an attempt by the British Government to consolidate fiscal and political power on other countries. To do that they placed import taxes in many of the different colonies.
  • Boston Massacare (11)

    This was a street fight bwtween the British soldiers and pedestrians protesting. The fight started of when the British started hitting first, then thats what lead to the massacare
  • Committiee of Corespondence (12)

    Virgina House of Burgesses said that each colonial legislature will appoint a standing in intercolonial correspondence. As that was estabalished many more committees were formed.
  • Tea Act (13)

    Policies and taxes that were imposed by Britian were being destroyed because it wasn't popular. All the American colonies were destroying all the tea that was being imported.
  • Boston Tea Party (14)

    The Boston Tea party was when eveyone didn't want to pay the high taxes for the Tea. John Adams was part of the group and he called it the destruction of the Tea in Boston
  • Intolerbale Acts (15)

    It is an American Patriot name for numerous laws that were passed by the British in 1774. This was for the Massachusetts colonist who threw all the tea into the Boston Harbor.
  • 1st continential congress (16)

    The 1st conitnental congress meet in Philadalphia, they were there in September until October 26. The place they meet at was called Carpenters Hall.
  • Lexington & Concord (17)

    This was thr first battle that lead to the American Revolutionary war. It was first between the British and Millita and thats when they heard the shot around the whole world.
  • Bunker Hill (18)

    It was a battle that was faught at a place called bunker hill. The battle was during the Siege of Boston in the early American Revolutionary war.
  • Olive Branch Petition (19)

    It was a document that was taken by the second congress to avoid a war between the colonies. This was also brought to the Great Britian King to stop all conflicts from happeneing.
  • Common Senese (20)

    The person who wrote this was Thomas Paine, he wrote it in Janurary and it wasn't published until February. When he wrote this he wanted people to learn how to fight agianst the unfairness of King George lll.
  • Declaration of Independence (21)

    It was a meeting about the thirteen colonies becoming all independent with no on ruleing over them. Also thats when they wanted to go to war with the British.
