    The French and Indian War was a war over the Ohio River valley. Great Britain wanted the colonist to stop moving into that direction. All the trespassing and other elements started the French and Indian War between Great Britain and the French. Great Britain won most the French territory in North America.

    The proclamation of 1763 was King George III saying that the colonist could not move west because the Indians were attacking and it was coasting Great Britain money to send over soldiers to protect the colonist. The colonist ignored this and the colonist were angry that Britain would not protect them.

    Sugar ActThe sugar act was a tax on sugar and molasses. The colonists felt like they had no one to represent what was being taxed. This was true the colonist had no taxation without representation. Therefore the colonist refused to buy goods (boycott) for Britain.

    We are very angry at the British for what they have done. The Intolerable Acts have been passed to punish us for the Boston Tea Party. We can not believe that the Boston Port has been closed. Also, they have cut powers to Town Meetings and increased power to the Royal Governor. Congress has demanded that these acts be repealed. We have the right to tax and govern ourselves

    The Committee of Correspondence has planned a special meeting called the First Continental Congress. We have representatives from all over the colonies to meet. Very intelligent representatives will be meeting to make plans about the British. Some members will be Sam Adams, John Adams, and Geroge Washington. We will make plans to begin training militia and to repeal the Intolerable Acts. I am so glad this meeting will take place. We can finally plan how we can end the British control.
