    The French and Indian War
    The French traded and allied with the Alagonquien and huron. They allied with the iriguouis.France and Brittian struggle to control North america. The war started in 1754.
  • Proclamation of 1763

    Proclamation of 1763
    Most colonial Settlements had been made along the Atlantic coast. Indians led by Cheif Pontiac Rebelled against brittish settlments in 1763. To avoid violence, King george the 3rd made the proclamation of 1763 which banned settlmetnswest of the appalation mountains so that they would not be raded.
  • Sugar act

    Sugar act
    Great Britain had to pay for the French and Indian war for keeping troops in North America. Parliament Passed sugar act in 1764 to tax them to help the government pay. They believed there shouldn't be taxes with out representation. Samuel Adams, a colonials trader set up the committees of correspondence to protest.
  • Stamp act of 1765

    Colonists had to pay for officiall stamp or seal on purchases of paper items. There were immediate protest. Sons of liberty used violence. Stamp act congress of 1765 said the tax a violation of colonial repealed in 1766.
  • Townshend acts of 1767

    Taxes on glass, lead, paints, paper, and tea. The towns boycotted the brutish goods. And then the brittish sent troops in 1768.
  • The Boston massacre

    The Boston massacre
    A crowd gathered in Boston after a British soldier had hit a colonist. That evening a group of about 30. described by John Adams as "a motley rabble of saucy boys, negroes and molattoes, Irish teagues and outlandish jack tarrs," They started to taunt the guard at the custom house with snowballs, sticks and insults. The shooting was called the boston masscre.
  • The tea act

    The tea act
    Colonial merchants smuggled tea to avoid paying the British tax. Parliament passed the Tea Act in 1773 to allow the British East India Company to sell cheap tea to the colonists. Colonial merchants and smugglers were opposed to this. They started losing a lot of money and customers because British’s tea was too cheap.
  • The Boston Tea party

    The Boston Tea party
    On December 16, 1773, colonists dressed up as Indians, attacked British tea ships and threw the tea into the ocean. This incident was called the Boston Tea Party.
  • Intolerable Acts

    Intolerable Acts
    The British wanted to get back at the colonists for the Tea party so they Closed the Boston harbor, Canceled the Massachusetts charter. The royal officials accused crimes would be sent to Great Britain. And General Thomas Gage was made into the governor.
  • 1st Continental Congress

    1st Continental Congress
    People who fought for independence from Britain became known as Patriots. The people who fought for Great Britain were called Loyalists or Tories.
