Treaty of Paris
This helped end the 7 year war. This was signed after Great Britain’s victory over France. France gave up most of their territory which helped end military threat. -
Proclamation of 1763
This closed down colonial expansion westward beyond the Appalachia. Which caused more attacks because the people didn’t wanna obey the rule. But this did help separate the Indians from the British. -
Sugar Act
The Sugar Act was because the British was in debt so the parliament placed taxes on sugar. -
Stamp Act
The Stamp Act was to help pay for the army, which places taxes on legal documents, newspapers, and more. -
The Stamp Act Congress
The Stamp Act Congress is representatives from some British colonies. They were representatives of nine colonies to help control what was right and wrong. -
Boston Massacre
The patriots started to protest against the British parliament who enforced taxation. They wanted more American representation. This helped colonies unite against Britain. It made Americans want more independence. The relationship between them got pretty bad, starting with killing colonists and starting fights in the streets. The first person to be killed was Crispus Attucks. -
The Tea Act
The Tea Act was to sell low cost tea to the colonists to persuade them to not get mad about taxing them even more. This passed Parliament's right to tax the colonists. -
Boston Tea Party
The colonists dressed as the Mohawk Indians. The colonists were angry and started a protest. They would say “no taxation without representation” and started to dumb tea off the ships into the water. This caused Boston Harbor to shut down until all the tea was paid for. -
The Intolerable Acts
The intolerable acts were caused after the colonists dumped tea into the harbor. This caused the intolerable acts to be passed by parliament in response to the colonists resisting the British. This affected the colonists because more rules and laws were placed upon them. -
First Continental Congress
The purpose was to help repair the relationship between the American colonists and the British government. This helped give the colonists a say in their rights as well. -
Lexington & Concord
The British Army set out to Boston to capture rebel leader in Lexington and to destroy the Americans store of weapons and ammunition Concord. This lead to a lot of British soldiers being killed. -
Second Continental Congress
This functioned as another government faction after the Revolutionary War. This helped raise armies, making plans, sorting things out to create peace, and writing treaties to help settle disagreements. The congress helped make generals lead army’s and was a form of government. -
Battle of Bunker Hill
The Americans learned that the British were planning on taking over the hills around Boston in order to take advantage. So this caused the Americans to secretly move their troops into the bunker to make sure the British don’t take control over the land. -
Declaration of Independence
Thomas Jefferson, Ben Franklin, John Adams, Robert Livingston, and Roger Sherman wrote it. This helped show the differences of countries in war with Great Britain. This helped give colonists freedom and not be under the control of Britain. This is what led everyone to independence.
