    End of the French and Indian War
    Dear Diary,
    The French and Indian War finally ended, They have been fighting ever since 1754. At the beginning of the war England was losing , but that all changed. England now has a huge war debt. King George is making us (the colonies) pay for it. We are very angry that we have to pay the debt even though we fought the war.
  • Proclamation of 1763

    Proclamation of 1763
    Dear Diary,
    Today the king made a proclamation called the "Proclamation of 1763". The proclamation says that you cannot settle past the Appalachian Mountains. I don't understand why we can’t settle in that area. I believe that we have the right to live where we want. We won that land for England.
  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    Dear Diary,
    The King made the first tax today. The tax is called the Sugar Act. It taxes products like sugar and molasses. We have to pay an extra 6 pence per gallon of molasses. Some people started to boycott these goods because they want England to stop. The British figured out that there are people smuggling goods like sugar and molasses. The smugglers are getting harsh punishments because of their actions.

    Quartering Act
    Dear Diary,
    We now have a British solider living in our house. The King of England passed another act called Quartering Act. We have two British soldiers living in our house right now. The King said that we are required to home and feed them. I feel like the British soldiers are starting to trespass on our land. Some people aren't going to let the British soldiers stay in their homes.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    Dear Diary,
    Today a second tax was added. It is called the Stamp Act. This tax is really going to affect us because we have to put additional stamps for our documents. We put stamps on wills, contracts, newspaper and even playing cards. We are demanding for this tax to be repealed. It was a really unfair tax. British officials are starting to get tarred and feathered.

    Townshend Act
    Dear Diary,
    Today the King sent out another act. It is called the Townshend Act. It act taxes the goods that import the colonies. Some of the products are lead, tea, glass and paint. The King came up a written order called the Writs of Assistance. It allows British officials to search the boats to see if there are any smuggled goods because many people are bringing smuggled goods into the colonies now
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    Dear Diary,
    Tonight at 9:00 there was a massacre. There were four victims, Edward and Francis Archbald, William Merchant and John Leech. Eight people were injured. When the first person dropped dead everything turned to chaos. The British were shooting and the colonists were throwing stones, sticks and ice. It was a terrible sight.
  • Tea Act

    Tea Act
    Dear Diary,
    The king added another tax. This time it is called the Tea Act. This time we have to buy tea from Britain. The company we have to buy from is called the British East India Company. The British East India Company has monopoly of the tea sales in the colonies because it is the only company that sells tea. We have to pay 3 pence a pound.

    Dear Diary,
    Some people started something called the "Boston Tea Party". Samuel Adams set it up. There were many people at the town meeting. When it was time they all went to the harbor dressed up as Native Americans. Around 110 people participated. They dumped tons and tons of tea into the harbor.

    Intolerable Acts
    Dear Diary,
    Today the Intolerable Acts were passed. The British call this act the Coercive Act. The act created a blockade of ships that won’t leave until the tea from the Boston Tea Party is paid for. The act also moved the trials to England. The act also banned town meetings and strengthened the Quartering Act.

    First Continental Congress
    Dear Diary,
    Our delegates left today to go to Carpenters' Hall in Philadelphia today. They had a meeting called the Continental Congress. All of the colonies had delegates except for Georgia. The delegates meeting was about their problems with the British. Some of our colony’s (Massachusetts) delegates were John Adams and Sam Adams. They were talking about demanding repeals, training militias and organizing boycotts. They are going to meet again in May 1775.
  • Paul Revere's Ride

    Dear Diary,
    It is about midnight right now and I have awakened because I heard someone shouting outside. It ended up being Paul Revere and two other men. Paul Revere shouted “The Regulars are coming out” over and over again to every house they passed. Then, I realize that he meant the British were coming.

    Battle of Lexington and Concord
    Dear Diary,
    Today the Revolutionary War began. Last night, eight farmers were killed. The soliders tried to seize the munition. The battle is called the "shot heard around the world". Many people were there watching. If we win this war we will gain freedom from Britain.
