  • Proclamation of 1763

    Proclamation of 1763
    It was issued by King George 3rd. The purpose of the Proclamation was to organize Britains, New England, and to better relationships with the Native Americans. They did that by regulation of trade, settlement, and land purchases on the western frontier. Eventually this created four new colonies, and closed off western frontier expansion.

    Sugar Act
    The Sugar Act put a three cent tax on foreign sugar. Not only that but it increased taxes on coffee, indigo, and certain types of wine. There was no importation of types of wines, Alot of the merchants were very mad because of the taxes not alot of people were buying. The people eventually realized they wanted a say, in the tax situation.

    Stamp Act
    This law states that every newspaper, or pamphlet or any legal document had to have a British seal, or stamp on it. The stamp though cost money. The colonist responded negativley, which is why they created the Stamp Act Congress. This act didnt last very long because another act took its place. The Stamp Act helped evolve alot of the congresses that would go against the British Goverment.

    They were the first gathering representatives from several American colonies. This gathering was to have a successful protest against the British taxation.

    Declaratory Act
    This act was passed right after the Stamp Act was replaced. The Declaratory act reaffirmed parliaments rights to "bind" the colonies whatso ever. What that meant was that the British Goverment could take control of its north colonies. Concluding that eventually the colonists would have no control over any taxation or law making.

    Townshend was a man who persuaded Parliment to pass the Townshend Act. The most important regulations were light import duty on glass, white lead, paper, paint, and tea.So his plan was to tax things that were not critical for trade. So instead of making it tax goods they were duty payable.

    The Boston Massacre started with men and boys taunting a standing guard. Eventually more british guards came and shots were fired.Five men were shot to death. This made the American people realize that the british weren't here to help them. They were going to control them just like they did in Britain. This eventually is one of the causes to the Revolutionary War.

    The Tea Act was a law for the people of the colonies to only buy tea from the East Indies Company.

    Boston Tea Party
    Men who disguised themselves as Indians, boarded the ships full of boxes of tea. This was the perfect way of protesting because the tea was a symbol to rallying around as almost every colonist rich or poor consumed this product.

    It was series of laws created by the British Prime Minister because of the Boston Tea Party. The five acts where Impartial Administration of Justice Act which allowed trails to be moved to different colonies if they were unjust. Massachusetts Bay Regulating Act made the British Governor in charge of all the town meetings. Boston Port Act was when they closed the Port of Boston until the East Indies Company had been repaired.   • First Continental Congress

    First Continental Congress
    This was a convention rather than a congress. John Adams played a very important key role in the First Continental Congrress because he lead his colleagues to a revolutionary course. The congress had a very significant action which was the creation of the Association. It was for a complete boycott of british goods: nonimporation, nonexportation, and nonconsumption. People who did not follow the rules of the Association would get tarred and feathered.

    Battle of Lexington and Concord
    The battle of lexington and Concord happened because the British troops were sent to Concord to capture John Hancock and Samuel Adams. Those battles that took many lives, but what is so significant about these battles is that during the Battle of Lexington the Revolutionary War had already started. That battle was called "the shot heard around the world"
