    The navigation acts were several acts enabling Britain to collect taxes in the colonies and made the colonies only able to trade with England and they were heavily taxed by England. Salutary neglect was that Great Britain pretty much left the colonies on their own to do what they wanted and didn't really enforce many laws

  • French and Indian war begins

    A war over colonial claims in North America and resulted in England getting almost all of France's colonial holdings in North America and Spanish Florida
  • Albany plan of union

    Benjamin Franklin proposed an idea of a united colonies government which had never happened before and was a big idea for the colonies and the world
  • Writs of assistance

    A general search warrant that meant that the official that had one could enter any building or ship that he or she suspected had smuggled goods. Basically they could by our standards unlawfully search anywhere they wanted to.
  • French and Indian war ends

    The war for France's colonial holdings ends with Great Britain victorious and they gain all of France's colonial holdings but this war leaves Britain debt riddled and this leads to Britain deciding to tax the colonies which was a mistake.
  • Pontiac's Rebellion Begins

    A rebellion of a lose confederation of Indians in the great lake regions because they were dissatisfied with British policies in the great lakes region post French and Indian war.
  • The Proclamation of 1763

    After the acquisition of French colonial territories in the French and Indian war the King proclaimed that all territory west of the Appalachian mountains would go to the the Native Americans and everyone living there would have to leave and everyone wanting to move there couldn't.

    A tax on things like molasses, sugar, tobacco and many other things that wasn't being taxed before now because they were buying these thing from the French West Indies to help make things like rum
  • The Stamp act

    The Americans were taxed by the British on every single piece of printed paper they used in the colonies. From legal documents to playing cards almost everything was taxed.
  • The Quartering act

    This act required colonists to supply the British with food accommodations or anything else they needed in the colonies. Which you can imagine caused quite an uproar.
  • Townshend acts

    These acts were several tax laws that were made to raise revenue from the colonies. They were named the Townshend acts after the man who proposed them in parliament.
  • Non importation agreements

    These agreements were made in protest of the several different acts like the stamp act. These agreements basically said they would not import British goods. (date is not exact)
  • The Boston Massacre

    This event happened in Boston where several British soldiers fired into a crowd of colonists and killed five of them. The sons of liberty used this as propaganda against the British government to increase their desire for liberty
  • Committees of correspondence

    This was the formation of an inter colony government and rallied support against the British and was a large stepping stone for independence.
  • The tea act

    This act was introduced to sell the tea in London storehouses by the struggling British east India company. This was met with large protests and acts against the British soldiers and loyalists
  • The Boston tea party

    This was a political protest against the British where some dressed up as Indians and some wore regular attire and they poured tea into the bay. This costed the British East India Company around in modern days currency 1,700,000 dollars.
  • The intolerable acts

    The series of acts passed by parliament to punish the colonists of Massachusetts for the Boston tea party. This really annoyed the colonists as you can imagine and this led to the formation of the first continental congress.
  • Edenton Tea Party

    51 really rich women in North Carolina actually had a tea party and didn't throw stuff off a boat. They all refused to buy British luxury clothing and tea and pretty much everything else
  • First Continental Congress

    A meeting of delegates from 12 of the thirteen colonies and they addressed the British acts against the colonies and petitioned for a change.
  • The Battle of Lexington and Concord

    Known as the shot heard round the world and started the american revolution. This was obviously important and changed the way history happened for colonial countries like Great Britain and Spain.
  • The deceleration of independence

    The official document declaring America's independence from Great Britain and will go down in time as the worlds greatest break up letter ever.
