    The French Indian war.
    This was a war between Great Brittan and the Indians of the frontier. There had been building tension for a long time before the fight broke out, and so it was expected. It went from a small skirmish to a full on war. Finally after 7 long years the British won.
  • The proclamation of 1763

    The proclamation of 1763
    The proclamation of '63 was the British claiming and marking the territory of the Appalachian mountains. This meant that no one but the Brits could live here and hypothetically the Indians had to leave. Instead it just created more contention.
  • The sugar act

    The sugar act
    The sugar act was an act made by the king of England to stop the Americans from buying things from other countries. It meant that they could only receive and buy food and merchandise from England.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    This act meant that the people living in America still had to pay taxes to the king of England. This way the taxes were the same for those in England and the new world. This was done to bring more money to the king.
  • The Townshend act

    The Townshend act
    The townsheds act was actually a set of four different acts. These consisted of the Suspending Act, the Revenue Act, the Indemnity Act, and the Commissioners of Customs Act. Basically all these did was continue the taxes placed on the colonists for every good transported to them.
  • The Boston Masacre

    The Boston Masacre
    Lots of English soldiers were sent to America to enforce the new tax laws and this caused plenty of tension. One day a soldier was insulted and he struck the man. A fight then started which eventually led to the red coats shooting down a lot of village men. This was the birth of the war.
  • Tea act

    This act was another one of taxes, but it was not just on tea. It also included glass, paper, and paint.
  • The Boston Tea Party

    The Boston Tea Party
    Eventually the colonists got sick of the most recent act upon them and decided to take some action. A few men painted their faces to look like Indians and then jumped aboard one of the East India's ships and dumped all of the tea into the sea below. This ended up resulting in more people killed by the Brit solders.
  • Intolerable acts

    Intolerable acts
    This act was basically a punishment for the colonist out lash to the tea act. They did this by raising and changing the taxes yet again for them. It was meant as a punishment but only ended up making them madder.
  • 1st constitutional congress

    1st constitutional congress
    This meeting happened in Philadelphia where the men discussed possibly boycotting England and their taxes. They would later go on and write the constitution of independence and other very important and key parts to out country.
