    The Sugar Act was an act in 1764 that Parliament passed, the act made it so the tax on the molasses the colonists imported were lowered so the colonists would pay the tax instead of smuggling it. The act also allowed officers to take goods from people who were accused of smuggling without going to court

    The Stamp Act was an Act that taxed almost all printed materials. This included Newspaper, wills, and playing cards. They needed stamps to show that the tax was paid for.

    The Townshend Act was an act that taxed glass, lead, paints, paper, and tea. This act also allowed searching for smuggled goods.

    After one soldier was hit and knocked down, the redcoats got scared and anxious then fires. They killed a group of 5 colonists.

    The Tea Act was an act that gave the company almost total control of the market for tea in the colonies. The tea act also allowed the British East India company (BEIC) to sell tea directly to the colonists.

    Despite the warnings of trouble, the East India Company was still shipping tea to the colonists. The Colonists in New York and Philadelphia made the tea ships turn back. T midnight on December 16, colonists dressed as Native Americans boarded the ships and threw 342 chests of tea overboard.

    The Intolerable Act was an act that was passed to punish Boston for the Boston Tea Party, Boston harbor was closed until the tea was paid for, and the Massachusetts charter was canceled.

  • The First Continental Congress

    The First Continental Congress
    The meeting delegates from 12 of the 13 British Colonies was called The First Continental Congress. The 12 delegates met to deal with the Intolerable Acts. The only colony that didn't send a representative to the Congress was Georgia. If Parliament would not repeal the Intolerable Acts then they agreed to boycott British goods.

    Fort Ticonderoga was a place with weapons, and since Washington need weapons. He arranged to have a lot of cannons brought 300 miles from Fort Ticonderoga.

    General Thomas Gage and his men of British soldiers go to Boston with more coming. Thomas Gage was to take all the weapons from the Massachusetts militia and arrest the leaders.

    In the Second Continental Congress meet they created a Continental Amy led by George Washington, sent Olive Branch asking the King to protect their rights, set up a post office, and they print money. The King hires 30,000 Hessians Soldiers in response
  • Bunker Hill

    Bunker Hill
    There was about 20,000 people in the militia around Boston. With the militia always nearby the city they had control of the city. On June 16, 1775 the militia commanded by Colonel William Prescott set up posts on Bunker Hill and Breed's Hill across the harbor from Boston. On the next day, the redcoats grouped up at Breed's Hill. With weapons drawn, they charged, since they were low on ammunition, Prescott ordered them to not fire until you see the whites in their eyes. The Americans shot.

    Washington realizes the men are disorganized, they need discipline, they needed to be able to follow strict rules and procedures. Washington began to make the militia into soldiers. Washington needs weapons

  • British Surrender Boston

    British Surrender Boston
    Washington thinks his army is ready and the weapons have arrived. Washington puts cannons on Dorchester Heights over Boston while the redcoats slept. The British General William Howe commanded his soldiers to get on ships and run from Boston retreat and the Americans win.
