    This treaty almost took away all of the French power in the New World. England took all of their land besides a few ports. This was a huge point for England as they were now the most powerful in the world.

    The Proclamation of 1763
    The Proclamation of 1763 banned the expansion past the Appalachians to avoid another bloody battle after Pontiac’s Uprising. The colonists did nothing but ignored the proclamation.
  • Tax Acts

    Tax Acts
    After the French and Indian War, Britain were in a lot of debt. As a result of this, they placed taxes and restrictions on the colonists. The following were the acts placed on the colonists:
    Sugar act - this was the tax on sugar
    Stamp tax - this was the tax on all paper goods. Back then, colonists used a lot of paper.
    Tea tax - this was the tax on tea. The colonists were the most upset over this.
    Quartering act - colonists were forced let red pats in their homes and feed them.

    The Sons of Liberty
    A group of people who got together and wanted to do something about the tax acts. They came up with the idea to boycott goods that came from England. This was very successful and hurt the English economy.
  • Stamp Act Congress

    Stamp Act Congress
    The Stamp Act Congress was a document made by a group of colonists that stated the rights of the colonists. The congress asked the king to take away the stamp act. All of this was ignored by the king. Even though it was unsuccessful, this united the colonists and they became one.

    This was the tax on led, tea, and tea.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    British redcoats were out roaming the town of Boston. The colonists were outside throwing snowballs at redcoats. One of the colonists had a fire in their house and went outside and yelled “FIRE.” So the redcoats fired. Two colonists were shot and one died. Crispsus Attucks was the one killed. Both sides shared blamed but the British soldiers got away with what happened.

    The British Indian Tea Company had a monopoly on tea. They decided not to sell to the colonists anymore. The colonists were upset. 100 Bostonians dressed up as Indians and boarded ships with tea on them. They threw 342 chests of tea into the bay.

    Intolerable Acts
    As a result of the Boston Tea Party, Britain placed more acts on them. The first and most dramatic act was shutting down the Boston harbor. This was one of the biggest ports in the New World. The second act was the colonists now had restricted town meetings. The last act was redcoats could lodge and eat wherever they wanted and any time.
  • First Continental Congress

    First Continental Congress
    This was a group of the colonists smartest people. They all got together and declared a declaration of rights. It was an appeal to the king and parliament. They also decided to boycott every single thing that came from England. They wouldn’t touch or buy anything from England.
  • Lexington and Concord

    Lexington and Concord
    This was the first war of the American Revolution. The redcoats and militia lined up and the first shot was taken. No one knows who took the shot but it was the “shot heard round the world.” Britain were winning this as they were shooting 4 times faster than the militia. The militia retreated and hid back in Concord. As the British were marching into Concord like they were big stuff, the colonists surrounded them and won the second part of this war. It was tied up 1-1.
