  • 1. Treaty of Paris

    Ended the revolutionary war. Recognized american Independence.
  • 2. Proclamation Act

    Prohibited all settlement east of the Appalachian Mountains by King George III.
  • 3. The Sugar Act

    An act to generate revenue for the British. Passed in April of 1764. Put taxes on sugar.
  • 4. The Stamp Act

    Printed materials were required to be on stamped paper. The tax was directly imposed on the British American colonies.
  • 5. The Quartering Act

    Required American colonists to provide food and housing for British soldiers in need.
  • 6. Stamp Act Congress

    Met between October 7th and October 25th 1765. This was the first group to protest against British taxation.
  • 7. Stamp Act Repealed

    British parliament voted for the repeal of the stamp act in March of 1766.
  • 8. Declaratory Act

    Gave British parliament to pass laws for the american colonies.
  • 9. Townshend Act

    A program input by Charles Townshend. It include the the Revenue Act of 1767, the Indemnity Act, the Commissioners of Customs Act, the Vice Admiralty Court Act, and the New York Restraining Act.
  • 10. Boston Massacre

    5 colonists were killed by British colonists.
  • 11. Committee Correspondence

    A colonist union in opposition of British policy.
  • 12. Tea Act

    An act made by parliament to reduce the amount of tea purchased, consumed, and stored by the British East India Company.
  • 13. Boston Tea Party

    An act committed by the Sons of Liberty to Protest the tea act. The protesters dumped millions of dollars worth of tea into the harbor.
  • 14. Intolerable Acts

    Laws made by British Parliament after the Boston tea party.
  • 15. Declaration of Independence

    Signed on July 4th, 1774 by the Second Continental Congress, it is a statement that set the 13 colonies free from the British.
  • 16. 1st Continental Congress

    A group of 12 representative from the 13 colonies met from September 5th to October 26th, 1774.
  • 17. Declaration of Rights and Grievances

    Written by the stamp act congress on October 14, 1774 stating that taxes imposed on Great Britain was unconstitutional.

    The first battle of the Revolutionary war.

    A battle fought early in the Revolutionary war.
  • 20. Olive Branch Petition

    A letter to King George III from the Second Continental Congress, the goal of the letter was to avoid war with Britain.

    The pamphlet Thomas Paine promoting independence for the people of the thirteen colonies.
