    French and Indian War

    The French and Indian War, also known as the Seven Years War, was a war that formed a new chapter in history. The French expansion into the Ohio River Valley brought tons of conflict and claimed to be with the British. In 1756, the British had correctly and formally declared that this was war. This marked the actual beginning of the French and Indian war. The French and Indian war officially ended due to the signing of the Treaty of Paris in 1763.
  • Sugar Act

    Sugar Act
    In 1764, Parliament passed a simpler version of the Sugar Act. It was the first taxation from the British Parliament. The Sugar Act really affected the colonies. It increased the laws of smuggling. The Sugar Act was placed to help pay for the debt of the French and Indian war.

    Stamp Act
    In 1765, the Stamp Act was introduced to the colonies. Due to how much debt the British were in because of the French and Indian war they started taxing all paper documents in the colonies. The colonies argued and argued that the only people allowed to tax them was the representative assemblies. The people of the colonies started boycotting British goods and they eventually passed the act. The Stamp Act ended in 1766.

    The Boston Massacre was a deadly riot that occurred in Boston, Massachusetts. There started to be an altercation between one lone British soldier and American colonists. This was a bloody and terrible slaughter. Only two of the men that were included in the Boston Massacre were found guilty.

    In 1773, the Boston Tea Party started to erupt. It was a political protest toward the taxing on tea. Since the British were so deep into debt, they started taxing all British goods. During this protest, the colonists started boycotting the tea sold by the British, and started smuggling the tea. In May of 1773, the Parliament of Britain passed the tea act and it started allowing tea to be sold for a cheaper cost.

    The First Continental Congress occurred on October 26, 1774. The congress ended up drawing up the Declaration of Rights, which ended up being the most significant achievement. It called for a complete boycott of every single British good being sold, also no importing or exporting goods.

    The Intolerable Acts of June 1774, were laws to punish the colonists because of their behavior toward the tea act. Parliament passed four different acts and quickly became known as the intolerable acts because they were so severe and cruel.
  • Battle of Bunker Hill

    Battle of Bunker Hill
    After Lexington and Concord, American troops had learned that the British were planning on sending troops from Boston. The Americans were on a limited supply of ammunition and they were told not to fire until they saw the whites of the British eyes. They threw the British into retreat and then they later came back and attacked. In the Battle of Bunker Hill, the Americans were defeated.

    Lexington and Concord
    The two battles of Lexington and Concord started off the whole American Revolution. At the Battle of Lexington there were not near as enough colonists to stand up to the redcoats. The Minute Men refused to disperse and the British took the victory. After winning the Battle of Lexington, they moved onto nearby Concord. The American militia killed lots of the British redcoats and they ended up retreating.
  • Declaration of Independence

    Declaration of Independence
    The issuing of the Declaration of Independence was on July 4, 1776. It was adopted by the Continental Congress and the colonies resolved their connections with Great Britain. The Declaration summarized the independence for the colonists moving forward.
