    Proclamation Line
    The Proclamation Line was issues by King George III. It was issued because King George III wanted to have a stronger goverment in the 13 colonies. It also gave the Indians the land west of the Appalachain Mountians for the Indians hunting grounds.
  • Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act was the first direct tax on the colonists. In the Stamp Act a lot of the printed items were taxed (like newspapers, playing cards, and posters, etc.).

    In the Quartering Act, the colonists were required to provide the British soldiers with food and selter. Some colonists had a bad feeling about the Quartering Act so the 3rd Amendment in the US Constitution was formed.

    The Declaratory Act was the act the repealed the Stamp Act. The Declaratory Act was repealed because the British trade was being hurt by boycotts.

    The Townshend Act is series of acts taxed items like tea, paper, and glass. This act was named after the Chancellor of the Exchequer , Charles Townshend.

    The British soldiers responded to the Americans by firing on the heckling crowd and killed 5 colonists. When Britain repealed some of the Townshend Act, some of the tensions of the colonists calmed.

    The Committee of Correspondence was set up groups to talk about the British activities. Also, the Committee of Correspondence helped set up the First Continental Congress.

    The Tea Act made the tax on British tea lower than the tax on non-British tea. The Tea Act was designed becasue the British wanted to save East India Company from bankruptcy.

    During the Boston Tea Party, the colonists felt forced to buy British tea so the colonists dumped 342 chests of British tea into the Boston Harbor. Samuel Adams may have defended the Boston Tea Party and may have participated in it.

    The Coercive Acts was also known as the Intolerable Acts. The Coercive Acts was meant to punish the Colonists of America for the Boston Tea Party. During the Coercive Acts, there were more British troops sent to keep the colonies in order.

    The Common Sense was written by Thomas Paine to favor independence to the people in the thirteen colonies from Great Britain. The Common Sense was published at the beginning of the American Revolution.

    Declaration of Independence
    The Declaration of Independence was written by Thomas Jefferson, but was pushed by future president John Adams. Also, the Declaration of Independence was written to state the "all men are created equal" and that everyone had natural rights.
